AVON/WROC Elimination of Gender-Based Violence Project
The Women’s Resource and Outreach Centre with funding from the AVON Foundation in the USA has trained 15 facilitators from five inner-city communities in Kingston to address issues that arise from Gender Based Violence. The inner city communities in Kingston are Hannah Town, Lyndhurst/Greenwich, Rose Town, Trench Town and Torrington Park.
The Facilitators have engaged the communities to promote gender equality, expose, condemn and eliminate GBV and support WROC’s outreach services. They have worked with community groups, guidance counsellors, teachers and students in the schools to create a culture of condemnation of Gender Based Violence.
